A solo exhibition of works by Konrad M\u00e4gi was held at the Kumu Art Museum of Estonia from August of 2018 to the spring of 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are two paths for art to embrace life. The convenient path is that of the mind, which embraces life only in its randomness, in its sad and foolish routineness. The steep path leading over abysses is the path of the soul, for whom life is a deep sleep and a tormenting premonition of different relationships and different depths than the ones our pathetic minds are capable of penetrating.\u201d <\/em>Konrad M\u00e4gi<\/p>\n

The exhibition of landscape paintings by Konrad M\u00e4gi at Kumu Art Museum displayed more than forty paintings from the artist\u2019s various creative periods, with a focus on his dramatic pieces of intense colours and sensitivity to nature.<\/p>\n

Konrad M\u00e4gi, who grew up near the ancient forests of southern Estonia, always viewed painting as an attempt to penetrate the secret and mystical forces of nature. For him, both nature and capturing it on canvas offered nearly sacred experiences. As an artist who by his nature was extremely sensitive, he was always looking for a way to contact the unreal.<\/p>\n

The exhibition at Kumu focussed on M\u00e4gi\u2019s landscapes, and paintings from his Italian period completed on the Isle of Capri, in Rome and in Venice.<\/p>\n

The exhibition was accompanied by a catalogue in Estonian and English. A comprehensive audio-guided tour was available and visitors could watch an introductory film about the significance of Konrad M\u00e4gi\u2019s oeuvre.<\/p>\n

The curator of the exhibition was Eero Epner, the coordinator was Liis P\u00e4hlapuu, the designer was T\u00f5nis Saadoja and the graphic designer was K\u00e4tlin Tischler.<\/p>\n
