This year\u2019s Annual Award of the Konrad M\u00e4gi Foundation has been granted to the playwright and stage director Priit P\u00f5ldma. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Foundation highlighted P\u00f5ldma\u2019s play Fever<\/em> on Konrad M\u00e4gi and Nikolai Triik, which premiered in September this year in the Vanemuine Theatre (staged by Tiit Palu). P\u00f5ldma started working on the play a few years ago upon the initiative of the Foundation: he made several research trips and finally came up with a generalising picture of the inner world of the artist.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Konrad M\u00e4gi Foundation Enn Kunila said that it was evident at the premiere how thoroughly, attentively and humanely P\u00f5ldma had approached the cultural world of the time and the aspirations of the first Estonian artists. \u201cP\u00f5ldma\u2019s work will not only make Konrad M\u00e4gi more widely known, but it will also bring him closer to us,\u201d added Kunila. He also pointed out how the performances by the actors Rasmus Kaljuj\u00e4rv and Andres M\u00e4har enabled the characters to become relevant and present in our current time.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The size of the Annual Award is \u20ac 5,000. It is granted to those who in the previous year have contributed to the popularisation of Konrad M\u00e4gi\u2019s life and oeuvre in Estonia or abroad. An applicant can set up his or her own candidature. The award has previously been granted to Eero Epner, T\u00f5nis Saadoja, Marianne K\u00f5rver, Pilvi Kalhama and Nils Ohlsen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Priit P\u00f5ldma (1994) is an Estonian dramatist, playwright and stage director. His oeuvre deals with various universally human and existential issues. P\u00f5ldma\u2019s play Fever<\/em> is performed in the Vanemuine Theatre to great public appeal.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
