Naples, Italy. March and April 1922

Mägi made two short visits to Naples: in March on his way to Capri and in April on his way back. He probably stayed there in a block of flats at 53 Via Mezzocannone, at least that is the address given in his sketch book.

On a postcard to Peeter Akerberg written on 19 April Mägi reports having been in Naples for a few days and planning to stay there for a couple more. “The place and the life here is very interesting,” Mägi writes. It must have been during that week that he made two paintings or – what is more likely – two sketches for paintings, both of which were executed in the Villa Comunale Park near the harbour.
