Saadjärve, Estonia. Summers of 1923–1924

Konrad Mägi spent the summers of 1923 and 1924 in the area around Lake Saadjärv, working with students of the Higher Art School Pallas. They all lived in the Kukulinna Manor, which had been procured by Pallas and turned into a centre for summer painting camps. This was Mägi’s last creative period. He made several paintings both in the summer of 1923 and 1924, but similarly to other periods it is difficult to ascertain the exact dates of completing the paintings. It may, however be assumed, that the more carefully elaborated works were made in 1923, because Mägi’s health deteriorated in the spring of 1924.
